Is Dwayne Johnson’s Jumanji 4 Happening? Here’s The Latest From Kevin Hart
Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart have appeared in more than a few films together, but the most successful was undoubtedly this jumanji movies. The franchise was rebooted with the incredibly successful Welcome to the jungle in 2017, followed by a solid sequel in 2019. This second film certainly strongly hinted at a third jumanji was a real possibility, and Kevin Hart says another film is a topic of conversation between him and The Rock.
Speak with diversity At the Oscars, Kevin Hart was asked what his next collaboration with Dwayne Johnson would be like. Hart said the on-screen duo talked about what’s next. They seem to want to do something big, and one of their big ideas is a fourth jumanji movie (their third together). Hart explained…
We have to do it soon. I talked to [Dwayne Johnson] Day before yesterday. We’ve got some big ideas rolling at the moment. We’re obviously talking about another Jumanji, that was a conversation.
The end of Jumanji: The next level all the children had safely returned to the real world, but in the final moments the Jumanji game was reactivated. Only this time, instead of seeing characters drawn into the game, we saw animals from the world of Jumanji in the “real” world, reminiscent of the storyline of the series’ original movie starring Robin Williams.
It was an interesting tease that, if nothing else, brought up a third jumanji film in this series to be something more than just the same thing over and over again. Of course then a little thing called global pandemic happened and if there were any plans to jump right into a new one jumanji movie, that didn’t happen.
But Kevin Hart says otherwise jumanji is just one topic among many that the two are discussing as a new project for both of them. They’ve done a few other projects together, including the action comedy Central intelligence. Hart also appeared in a small role in the Fast & Furious spin off Hobbs & Shaw, which was supposed to get a sequel, but is apparently not being actively pursued at the moment. Launching a whole new franchise together appears to be another option, according to Hart. Needless to say, if Johnson and Hart started a new franchise, it would likely prevent a third jumanji never happened as their attention would be elsewhere.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens. What seems clear is that these talks between Hart and Johnson are happening very early on, even when the decision is made to move forward with a new move jumanji, it will probably be a few more years before we actually see it. Based on the success of that Welcome to the jungle had so long after the original jumanjieven if this next movie takes a while, there will likely be an audience for it.
