Is Mason Mount leaving Chelsea? Latest contract, transfer news as Liverpool rumours increase
Chelsea’s record-breaking transfer spending continues this summer, with club owner Todd Boehly preparing another cash injection at Stamford Bridge.
Pressure on Graham Potter’s position has eased slightly in recent weeks as the Blues’ form has improved, but he will be aiming for a strong end to the 2022/23 season.
Despite the excitement of even more new faces, Potter is also likely to be laying off players in the coming months, with longtime Mason Mount possibly heading towards an exit.
The England star has played an intermittent role since Potter replaced Thomas Tuchel in September and without progress on a contract extension he could move on.

Is Mason Mount leaving Chelsea?
As of the end of March 2023, it seems possible, maybe even probable, that Mount will leave Chelsea at the end of the season.
The main reason behind the speculation about Mount’s future centers on the ongoing stalemate in contract talks between his representatives and the club.
Mount’s contract expires in 2024 and there appears to be a stalemate in negotiations with no solution in sight, although both parties want him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
According to reports from Football London, Mount is pushing for a pay rise, with Chelsea demanding a long-term (seven-year) contract for the 24-year-old to justify his pay rise and recoup the costs.
Mount is not keen on following the recent pattern of lengthy Chelsea contracts as such a deal would offer no flexibility for his future and the situation remains unresolved.
Potter has confirmed his stance on keeping Mount but admitted contract talks are between the player and the club.
“I spoke to him several times about his situation, football and life in general,” he said.
“My feelings for Mason are clear. First of all, he’s an amazing person, but sometimes things like that happen.
“They’re complicated, and it’s best I talk little about them, let them get on with it to decide what’s right for both parties.
“He’s part of my plans for next season but I’m not naive, I know it’s an important time for him and an important contract.
“These things have to be right for him and his family and it’s important that he makes a decision based on that.”
Mason Mount transfer rumours: Will he sign for Liverpool?
With no agreement in place, Chelsea are open to offers for Mount ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2024.
Liverpool are rumored to be frontrunners to make an offer to Mount. According to reports from local outlet Liverpool Echo, the Reds are “seriously interested” in signing the midfielder in a deal that could be reduced to around £35m ($43m). due to its contractual status.
Jurgen Klopp will have money to spend this summer, with the Germany manager previously stating the club have no choice but to invest if they want to fight for trophies and Mount could be a wise purchase – especially given Liverpool’s documented problems in the game Midfield.
