England train ahead of France’s visit to the Six Nations

Follow live updates as Italy host Wales in a Six Nations tie to avoid the wooden spoon.

The pressure is on Warren Gatland, who travels to the Stadio Olympico, bottom of the Six Nations table and is in serious danger of finishing bottom of the tournament for the first time in 20 years. Italy have been knocked down in each of the last seven seasons but hope to end the excitement in Rome.

Italy have shown flashes of their exciting development throughout the Six Nations, pushing defending champions France in the opening weekend and causing some problems for Ireland last time out. However, the Azzurri remain the only bonus point lost, but that’s still more than Wales after their sad defeats against Ireland, England and Scotland.

A defeat in Rome today would leave the loser staring at the wooden spoon and fighting a winless campaign. Follow live updates from Italy vs Wales in the Six Nations below.

Italy will not go away. It’s a nice move from behind in a scrum, Alessandro Fusco pivots around his batting half and mids, then flips up at just the right moment to break up the gap. However, it’s a little slow to get support with the nine and a bad pass will force a bad kick, ending the danger.

Italy had their fair share of useful attacking positions today but didn’t quite get their accuracy right. They should be able to play from a lineout 35 yards from the Welsh line but tie the ball up in a maul at the back, with Adam Beard’s floating limbs getting at the ball to prevent it from breaking loose.
