Latest NFL Free Agency Rumors and News

Joe Mixon will not be charged but future in doubt

It’s already been a turbulent off-season for Mixon. The Bengals running back dropped a criminal misconduct charge against them in early February and found his name back in the news this week. Mixon will not be charged in a shooting near his home, but his sister’s boyfriend faces multiple felony charges.

Mixon, who shuffled just 814 yards at 3.9 yards per carry in 2022, is looking like a potential cap victim this offseason. The Bengals signed Orlando Brown Jr. to a sizeable $64 million left tackle deal. As such, it may not be wise to spend on an RB that has diminished in effectiveness. Mixon’s release would save $7.29 million of his $12.79 million salary cap in 2023.

Bengals general manager Duke Tobin said “I have no answers” on whether Mixon will return to the team. This will be a situation to watch as we move forward.

Where does Bobby Wagner end up?

Former Seahawks and Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner is still in the market and has seemingly garnered little interest after pushing for his release from LA. Wagner isn’t bad at all, but he finally showed his age in coverage in 2022. Even the Cowboys — who seem to be associated with every great free agent — are “probably off‘ on Wagner following the signing of Leighton Vander Esch.

The linebacker market moves slowly. Eric Kendricks, Tremaine Edmunds and Kyzir White moved quickly, but Zach Cunningham and Wagner are still good starters. Wagner may have to accept less money from an unexpected team like the Browns, Giants or back to the Seahawks.

Death of Odell Beckham Jr. Return to the Giants

The New York Giants just added Parris Campbell and re-signed Darius Slayton, but they could still add a real potential No. 1 receiver in Beckham. ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported However, these signings got them out of that hunt. The Giants’ actions showed their interest up until the signing when they contacted his agent at the NFL Combine and then attended Beckham’s public training in Arizona.

Beckham could still return to the Big Apple as the New York Jets we are interested as they attempt to land quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Cowboys are interested, too, as they were until the end of the 2022 season. Jordan Schulz from The Score reported that the two parties had engaged in positive talks.
