Lazio sporting director drops major hint over Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s future – Man United News And Transfer News


Manchester United are close to qualifying for the Champions League but manager Erik ten Hag will be aware of the need to strengthen in key areas if his side are to fight for the biggest prizes.

Several midfielders suffered long-term injuries at the same time, including Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek and Marcel Sabitzer on loan were also recently ruled out for the season.

When you factor in Casemiro’s three suspensions and the lack of quality alternatives for the Brazilian and the Dane, it’s easy to see why the United manager would be keen to sign a new midfielder in the summer.

United need another good midfielder

The Red Devils have, of course, been linked with every Sun midfielder and long-term target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic of Lazio Roma has again received a mention via Corrieredellosport.

The Serb’s current contract expires in 2024 and he could be available for a cheaper deal.

Lazio’s sporting director Igli Tare has provided an update on his situation.

“For the good of all, we will sit down to resolve this matter. What I said about me also applies to him, he has a very strong, important bond.

“The boy has a really great appreciation and affection for the club and the coach. Anything can happen, it can even happen that he is sold to another club at the end of the season.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in exchange?

“I think Sergey might have the opportunity to go somewhere else, but he still has a contract with us,” the sporting director was quoted as saying Heaven And Sportitalia.

It’s easy to see why the 28-year-old is in such high demand. He has nine goals and eight assists in 45 appearances in all competitions and can play throughout midfield.

Milinkovic-Savic is currently valued at €60m but given his contract situation, he could be available for significantly less.

Many clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle are interested, with AC Milan also closely monitoring the situation.
