LIVE: Snow latest as Met Office warnings in place across UK today – weather and traffic updates
Snow is expected to return over Greater Manchester today as a yellow weather warning has been issued across parts of the region and the North West.
Yesterday (March 8) the Met Office issued another amber weather warning covering parts of the north west with heavy snowfall forecast that will “cause significant disruption”.
Snow is expected from Thursday morning but the warning predicts heavy snow could fall from 3pm today covering a large area of northern England east of Greater Manchester, including the Pennines. The warning covers parts of Oldham, Tameside and Rochdale.

A time-lapse snow map also shows snow expected to fall across Greater Manchester on Thursday and Friday. A yellow weather warning for snow is in effect, covering the region tomorrow (March 10) from 7am to 2pm.

Yellow weather warning for snow –
From 7 a.m. today to 2 p.m. tomorrow. Covers a large area between Glasgow and Birmingham including all of Greater Manchester.
Yellow weather warning for snow –
From today 3 p.m. to tomorrow 12 p.m. Covers an area stretching from Stoke-on-Trent to Durham, including parts of Greater Manchester.
Yellow warning for snow and ice –

Yellow Weather Warning for heavy snowfall is now in effect
The Met Office’s yellow weather warning for heavy snowfall is now in effect for Greater Manchester and much of the UK.
The warning came in at 7 a.m. and will last until 2 p.m. tomorrow (Friday).
Forecasters predict heavy snowfall will cause disruption over the two days, with travel delays expected on roads, railways and airports.
A yellow weather warning for snow – also covering parts of our region – will go into effect at 3pm today.

The warning says heavy snowfall is expected from 3pm on Thursday, covering a large area of northern England east of Greater Manchester, including the Pennines. The warning covers parts of Oldham, Tameside and Rochdale.
The warning, which lasts through Friday noon, says: “Heavy snowfall is expected to cause significant disruption Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.”
