Neil Critchley has reportedly been sacked as Queens Park Rangers head coach after only two months in charge of the Championship club.

The ex-Liverpool Academy coach left the Reds in 2020 to take on his first managerial role away from the Reds, which arrived at Blackpool. Critchley enjoyed great success with the Seasiders, but opted to leave this post to take on a new role at QPR.

Things have sadly not gone to plan for the 44-year-old, who has only been able to oversee one victory out of a possible 12 games while at the helm.

Tottenham Hotspur have secured a 2-0 victory over West Ham United to leapfrog Newcastle United and move into the final Champions Leauge spot.

Antonio Conte’s side are now seven points clear of Liverpool, but the Reds have two games in hand.

Ben Doak was the standout as Liverpool suffered Premier League 2 frustration at home to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Doak returned after a spell on the sidelines with a muscle problem with a lively display in a goalless draw against the Londoners at the Academy in Kirkby.

The young Reds were dominant for long periods against a Chelsea side who went into the game just three points behind leaders Manchester City.

But Barry Lewtas’ side – which included Bobby Clark, Rhys Williams and Billy Koumetio in a strong starting line-up – couldn’t find a way beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina.

After a cagey start, Liverpool gradually took control of a first half in which the direct running and pace of Doak was their most potent attacking weapon. It was one such run that forced a corner from which an outswinging delivery by Dom Corness was headed on to the top of the crossbar by Koumetio.

Alexis Mac Allister’s father has admitted there will be ‘possibilities’ for his son to leave Brighton this summer.

The Argentine international has caught the eye since signing for the Seagulls in 2019 and further raised his reputation at the World Cup in Qater, having helped his country to glory.

Similarly to his midfield partner Moises Caicedo, the 24-year-old has continued to be linked with a move away from Brighton in favour of a big-money move. Liverpool are among the teams to have been linked with Mac Allister, who looks set to have his pick of the clubs come the end of the campaign.

Sharing his stance on his son’s future, Mac Allister’s father, Carlos, told TyC Sports: “For now, he is at Brighton,” he to “It seems to me a very good thing that he has returned from the World Cup and has not despaired about leaving

“He is enjoying success calmly and in peace, in a team that loves him very much. The reception he received has been the best. He is very well in the club.

“We all know that in July there will be possibilities to be able to leave,” he added. “But prior to the World Cup, Alexis renewed his contract so that the club also has the opportunity of an important transfer, so that a lot can reach Brighton. It is the idea.”

Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has named three players that should be top of Jurgen Klopp’s summer shopping list.

The Reds are set for a busy off-season as they look to add major investment into the squad after their problems have been laid bare this season.

Liverpool’s midfield has been susceptible at times and prone to being overrun. Jude Bellingham is among the names linked with a move to Anfield.

The Spaniard has named Max Aarons, Denzel Dumfries and Bukayo Saka as players they should target.

While he is a world-class player, Enrique believes they need more than the 19-year-old, he told Genting Casino:

I wish that both Bellingham and Rice would come to Liverpool next season, but I highly doubt it will happen through FSG. I still believe we can get Bellingham if Liverpool don’t qualify for the Champions League. The problem with Liverpool is that they don’t just need one player, they need several. They need at least two midfielders, as well as one right winger to compete with Salah as there is no competition for him there.

You also need a player that will compete with Trent for his position as Calvin Ramsay came in, but suffered a long term Injury. It is not realistic to sign both Bellingham and Rice. It is not always quantity over quality. Look at Chelsea, they just buy whatever they want and haven’t been successful. But in Liverpool right now they need to buy not just one or two players, but four or five players. If Klopp is backed with £300m pounds for example I will say ‘’yes, go on and get Rice and Bellingham,” as well as other players in the positions I mentioned.

A player who has impressed me is Norwich’s Max Aarons, who is playing in the Championship right now. That is a player who can compete with Trent at this level. Though, when Alexander-Arnold is at the highest level no one can compete with him, don’t get me wrong. He has been at this level for so many years. I think Max Aarons is also an inexpensive alternative and is a proper right-back who can compete at that level.

Denzel Dumfries is also a good player that comes to mind from Inter Milan, but he will want to play all the time and not be a substitute to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

This is unrealistic for a winger, but I like Bukayo Saka. That is not going to happen, so I am also a fan of Bowen.

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as his contract in Italy is set to expire at the end of the season.

Reports from Italy, namely Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, suggest that the Reds are exploring the possibility of signing Rabiot on a free transfer when his contract expires at the Serie A side in the summer. He joined Juventus in 2019 after leaving PSG and he could look for a move to England.

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Darwin Nunez needs further assessment after being forced off with a shoulder injury in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Newcastle United.

Italian giants Inter Milan are said to be looking to cash in on midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

The Croatian is one of the many midfielders that have been linked with a move to Liverpool and again with the reports from Calciomercato, Jurgen Klopp’s side are among those said to be interested.

According to the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport via TeamTalk, Inter are looking to sell the midfielder in the summer to earn funds.

Tottenham are also among those as they look to bolster their midfield ranks. In recent weeks, they have suffered a number of injuries, including a season-ending knee problem for Rodrigo Bentancur.
