Surrounded by the love of her children, Lola Randall passed away on Monday 8th August 2022 at the Trillium Villa Nursing Home at the age of 89. She was the beloved wife of Bill Randall for 68 years, who predeceased her in March. Proud and loving mother to Wendy, Brad (Loretta), Steve (Jennifer) and Mark (Josephine). Esteemed grandmother of Adam (Lorali), Sarah (Dhruv), Matt (Larissa), Katie (Curtis), Cody, Lainie, Jessie (Callie) and Paul. Beloved great grandmother of Isabelle, Lucas, Jai and Bobby. Dear sister of Vicki Milliken. Aunt of Judy Varty (Dave). Predeceased by her sisters-in-law Marj and Bette.
Lola was a strong woman who would work a full day and then come home to tutor her kids at the kitchen table while she made dinner. She had a long illustrious career at the Royal Bank of Corunna where she made many friends and acquaintances. Lola enjoyed life to the fullest – boating with her family, an afternoon at the casino, a well-made margarita, and travelling.
She spent forty years as a nanny/grandma/grandma to a large group of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved shopping, playing rummy, scrabble and crokinole with them. Lola enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s stage plays, dance evenings and sporting events and was always there for a word of praise at the end.
She made a famous apple pie that was the highlight of many special occasions, a skill she lovingly passed on. Lola will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but her spirit lives on in the sweet aroma of a baked apple pie and the memories of her quick, dry wit often expressed through her many quips.
Lola and Bill would like to thank the many staff at Trillium Villa who have shown them kindness and care to the end of their lives.
The cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 21, 2022 from 2pm to 4pm at Corunna Legion, 350 Albert St, Corunna. Sympathy can be expressed by making donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (checks only for funeral home donations please).
