Mainz SD breaks silence as West Ham linked with £10m summer deal for midfield powerhouse Anton Stach

The Mainz sporting director has just broken his silence on West Ham United’s summer transfer target Anton Stach.

West Ham boss David Moyes reportedly wants to bring the 24-year-old Mainz ace to the London stadium in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Germany.

Stach is thought to cost around £10million this summer and Liverpool and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the defensive midfielder.

I think the German would be an excellent addition to the Hammers this summer.

It seems like Moyes really wants the Mainz midfielder, with the Bundesliga side ready to sell him for the right price…

West Ham gave Anton Stach a boost

The Hammers are yet to make an official move for the two-man Germany International.

However, the Mainz sports director has admitted that he is quite open to a transfer.

In an interview with Sky Germany, Mainz sports director Christian Heidel emphasized that Stach was not “unsaleable”:

“We haven’t gotten anything from the whole circus yet. Nobody has reported (their interest) so far. So the topic is not on the table at the moment. No player is unsaleable for Mainz 05. In such cases, you need to weigh the economic factors against the sporting ones. It also depends on what the player wants. And then you make a decision.”

I think Stach could be a really useful addition to West Ham, especially at the advertised price tag of just £10m.

Dubbed a “powerhouse” by MSN, the Germany international has energy, stamina and, of course, strength in abundance.

In 21 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, Stach has averaged one tackle, 1.5 interceptions, one clearance and 2.8 successful header duels per game (Who Scored).

The 24-year-old has absolutely all the physical qualities to be successful in the Premier League and he’s also quite good technically.

However, he’s not the best passer in the world, so there will be question marks as to whether he’s actually an upgrade to Soucek.

But I think he’s a lot better than the 28-year-old Czech international. And for £10m West Ham can’t go wrong signing Anton Stach.
