Man United injury update: Antony, Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay latest news and return dates

Christian Eriksen is the big long-term absentee for the Red Devils, who also lost Casemiro to a three-game ban for his red card against Crystal Palace.

However, there was good news as Diogo Dalot and Jadon Sancho were fit to join the bench for the weekend.

But today’s game against Leeds will not feature Antony, Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay.

Here’s your latest update on Man United injuries and return dates…

Anthony

The Brazilian was substituted towards the end of the Crystal Palace win and will miss tonight’s game in Leeds.

No return date has been set as Erik ten Hag keeps his cards close to his chest in regards to the winger’s condition.

He said: “I don’t think it’s a long time but we’ll have to see how it develops in the coming days. It’s in his leg, but I can’t tell for sure. You will understand that.”

Anthony Martial

The French striker, who will miss Wednesday’s game against Leeds, suffered his fifth injury setback of the season when he was ruled out of the Palace game with a reported hamstring injury.

Erik ten Hag has revealed very little about the nature of the problem and no timeframe has been reported for Martial’s latest return to a stop-start campaign for the 27-year-old.

“He had a setback from the game when he came back [against Nottingham Forest]’ said the United manager. “He’s fallen behind a bit. We have to wait, we have to be patient.”

Christian Ericsen

An ankle injury sustained in the FA Cup win against Reading will keep Eriksen out for around three months.

United have confirmed an initial return date for the Dane in late April or early May, suggesting a possible return against Tottenham on April 25 for the final six Premier League games of the season.

Ten Hag added last week: “Obviously he’s disappointed with that, we’re disappointed with that. That happens in top-flight football, you have to deal with it.”

Scott McTominay

Ten Hag is yet to specify the exact nature of McTominay’s injury but his return is not believed to be imminent and the Scotland international is another to miss the Leeds game.

A timeframe of around a fortnight and possibly longer was hinted at by the manager last week.

The midfielder was last in the United squad in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Forest on 25 January.

Donny van de Beek

A knee injury sustained in the game against Bournemouth last month will see Van de Beek out for the remainder of the season.

Post-surgery, the Dutch midfielder is focused on his long-term recovery, with Ten Hag content he’ll be back in the summer.

He said: “Obviously the bad news is he’s out for the rest of the season but the good news is his knee will be fine long term and he’ll be ready to play at the highest level again for the start of the season be ready pre-season.”
