MLB DFS: Best DraftKings and FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, lineup advice for Saturday, August 20, 2022

Starting pitching is always crucial in MLB Daily Fantasy, but when you search the MLB DFS player pool and see a dearth of options, an opportunity presents itself. Not many familiar names can be found at the starting pitcher on Saturday night. Joe Musgrove, Cristian Javier and Spencer Strider are among the most expensive options, but since there is more value to be found in positional players, playing the matchups could be beneficial.
Dakota Hudson threw six innings of one-hit ball against the Diamondbacks in April, but he costs just $6,100 at DraftKings and $7,300 at FanDuel in a Saturday rematch. So, should you add Hudson to your MLB DFS lineups and free up useful salary cap space to spend elsewhere? Before you hit MLB DFS picks for Saturday, be sure to read SportsLine Daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure’s MLB DFS advice, strategy and prediction.
McClure is a daily fantasy pro who has over $2 million in career earnings. And when it comes to everyday fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Named the top MLB DFS player in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune,” McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times and accounts for factors such as matchups and current results account. So he finds the best values on every page.
On Friday, McClure highlighted Giants outfielder Joc Pederson in his MLB DFS player pool at DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Pederson went 2-on-4 with a home run to return 17 Fantasy points on DraftKings and 21.7 points on FanDuel. Anyone who included him in their lineups was well on their way to a profitable day.
Now that the 2022 MLB season continues, McClure has his best daily MLB fantasy picks set for Saturday, August 20th. Go to SportsLine now to see them.
McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Saturday August 20, 2022
For Saturday, Pederson is once again one of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks, listed at $4,300 on DraftKings and $3,400 on FanDuel. After a difficult season with the Dodgers in 2020 and a bumpy season with the Braves and Cubs in 2021, Pederson has been a useful bit of offense for the Giants so far this season.
He’s slashed .254/.328/.500 with 18 homers and 47 RBI and made his second All-Star appearance. Like most hitters who have spent most of their careers in NL West, Pederson has found plenty of success at Coors Field with nine home runs in 158 at-bats. That includes a home run on Friday night and on Saturday he takes on right-hander Ryan Feltner, who has a 6.39 ERA this season.
Another part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes drafting Cardinals outfielder Tyler O’Neill ($4,700 at DraftKings and $3,000 at FanDuel). O’Neill finished eighth in last season’s National League MVP voting after hitting a .912 OPS with 34 home runs, 80 RBI and 15 stolen bases.
His follow-up in 2022 was disappointing as O’Neill struggled with injuries and comes in Saturday at .650 OPS with eight homers and seven steals in 70 games. However, he has posted a .979 OPS in the past seven days and a .357 OBP against lefties this year. On Saturday he will take on the Diamondbacks and Madison Bumgarner, who has given up four earned runs or more in five of their last six games.
