MoT, transportation entities engage in sporting action

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) and transport sector entities on Tuesday marked National Sports Day 2023 with sporting and recreational events for employees and their families at Al Sa’ad Plaza in Darb Lusail. According to a MoT statement, the celebrations were attended by Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC), Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar), Hamad Port Project Steering Committee, Qatar Navigation (Milaha), QTerminals, Qatar Rail and Mowasalat (Karwa). Activities such as hiking, fitness exercises and recreational competitions were organized for all ages.” The National Sports Day reflects our leadership’s vision of the importance of sport in building people and a healthy, productive society capable of effective development of the country and progress,” said HE Transport Minister Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti. Qatar, he added, is now showing a global role model in terms of attention to sport, and Qatar’s extraordinary success in hosting the FIFA World Cup This underscores creative initiatives in the field of sports in 2022. Sheikh Jabor bin Hamad al-Thani, director-general of QAC, said the main goal of the NSD is to promote sports by raising health awareness in the community and educating citizens and residents about active lifestyles and ways to reduce physical and psychological G health risks.” Mohamed Faleh al-Hajri, in charge of the administration of the QCAA, said the NSD conveys an important message that clearly reflects Qatar’s interest in sport and the strengthening of its role in the lives of individuals in order to make Qatari society a strong and to make healthy society. Mwani Qatar CEO Captain Abdulla Mohamed al-Khanji said the NSD activities were the culmination of Qatar’s achieved overwhelming success in hosting one of the world’s biggest sporting events. Fahad Saad al-Qahtani, CEO of Mowasalat (Karwa), said that the NSD activities are an important motivator to raise awareness of the importance of sport for individuals and society. Neville Bissett, GCEO of QTerminals, said NSD helps raise awareness in society about the importance of sport and its health benefits. Engineer Nabil Mohamed al-Khaldi, executive director of the Hamad port project, said the NSD has seen an increasing number of participants year after year.
