NFL betting odds, predictions, betting tips for preseason Week 2

Week 2 of the NFL preseason officially began Thursday night with the Bears traveling to Seattle. Things continue on Friday with three more games, but the real action – and the chance to cash in some bets – comes on Saturday, which features a whopping eight games.

We’ll be looking at the latest odds for these games at DraftKings Sportsbook and see if we can find any value as teams prepare for the 2022 regular season.

Best Week 2 NFL Preseason Bet vs. Spread: Steelers vs. Jaguars

Steelers vs Jaguars spread

  • Steelers +2.5: -110 (implied probability 52.38 percent)
  • Jaguars -2.5: -110 (implied probability 52.38 percent)

Best Bet: Steelers +2.5 (-110)

It’s hard to bet against the Steelers who are still trying to find their starting quarterback. All three quarterbacks (Mitchell Trubisky, rookie Kenny Pickett, and Mason Rudolph) played in last week’s preseason opener and helped lead the team to a 32-25 win over the Seahawks.

We’ll likely see all three quarterbacks play Saturday night, with Trubisky leading the way. However, head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters Thursday that they want to see Pickett in more varsity action, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. Still, I like the Steelers’ QB room more than the Jags’ QB room. Jacksonville head coach Doug Pederson said Thursday the Starters will play the Steelers in the second quarter. So it will be interesting to see how the Pittsburgh QBs fare.

Best Over/Under Week 2 NFL Preseason: Cowboys vs. Chargers

Cowboys vs. Chargers Over/Under

  • Over 37.5: -105 (implicit probability 51.2 percent)
  • Less than 37.5: -115 (implicit probability 53.5 percent)

Best Bet: UNDER 37.5 (-115)

The lowest total on the board for Saturday is the final game between the Cowboys and the Chargers. Both teams are unlikely to play their starters as they faced off in joint practice sessions this week. That means we’ll see Ben DiNucci and Cooper Rush for the Cowboys, who only scored seven points against the Broncos last week. Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy is hoping his team can limit their penalties after posting 17 for 129 yards last week. Attention is also being paid to rookie wide receiver Jalen Tolbert, who will play a significant role on the Cowboys offense.

As for the Chargers, we see Chase Daniel and Easton Stick in the middle for another week. The Chargers scored 22 points in last week’s preseason opener against the Rams. Both teams should get some points this week with another week of practice, but it shouldn’t go past 37.5 points. OVERs were 14-3 in the first full week of preseason, so it’s fair to expect some drop this week.

Other week 2 pre-season totals to consider: Commander Chiefs BELOW 43.5, Lion Colts BELOW 38.5
