NFL odds Week 3: How to bet 49ers-Broncos

That San Francisco 49ers Travel to the Mile High City to face it Denver Broncos at 8:20 p.m. Sunday at Empower Field.

The 49ers enter this game with a new but familiar face as quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo amid Trey Lance’s injury. Now that the quarterback controversy is over, the 49ers can focus on returning to the NFC Championship game this season.

The Broncos are 1-1 after a low-scoring affair with the Houston Texans last week. So far, Russell Wilson has had trouble adjusting to Denver’s plans and the offense has stalled. Wilson works best with running sets and lots of game action, something Denver hasn’t focused on before. If the Broncos are trying 64-yard field goals instead of putting the ball in Russ’ hands or designing an offense that doesn’t play to his strengths, why give him such a big contract?

Here’s everything you need from a betting perspective on the 49ers-Broncos game, from the point spread, moneyline, total over/under and an expert’s insight (odds via FOX Bet):

Insight from FOX Sports Betting Analyst Patrick Everson:

One of the biggest line moves of the week so far is Sunday night’s clash between the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. Denver opened a consensus favorite of 2.5 points, but the line jumped the fence Monday and San Fran is now at -1.5.

And that’s with the Niners losing QB early on Trey Lance for the season after sustaining a broken ankle last weekend. The aforementioned sharp weather certainly likes the 49ers along Jimmy Garoppolo again under the middle.

“I took San Francisco +2.5 when it opened,” he said. “Before the season, I mentioned something Russell Wilson is for Denver – an underperforming QB. Denver is also devastated. And the 49ers are better off with Jimmy G in QB.”

WynnBet’s Manica also noted the early Niners’ love this week.

“The Broncos failed the eye test in their two games, against more than two of the weaker teams in the NFL,” Manica said, alluding to a loss Seattle and a fight to beat the visit Houston. “We’re seeing an increase in competition for the Broncos against a solid 49ers roster. San Francisco is an angle that many people like. The team is helped in some ways by the loss of Lance as it reduces the variance in outcomes they would have with a younger quarterback.

“Jimmy G has a strong record under Shanahan and will look to capitalize on that as the Broncos are still trying to figure it out with the new plays they have in place.”
