NFL odds Week 3: How to bet Ravens-Patriots

The Baltimore Ravens travel north to take on the New England Patriots Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium.

After facing the Jets in Week 1 and the Dolphins in Week 2, the Ravens tour of the AFC East continues as they take on the Patriots. Hopefully this meeting goes better for them than they did against Miami, when the Ravens gambled away a 21-point lead in the fourth quarter, despite Lamar Jackson possibly having the best game of his career — 318 yards and three touchdowns in 21-for-29 passing to Go for 119 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

The Patriots are continuing the Patriots Way. New England also suffered a loss to the Dolphins and returned to form against the Pittsburgh Steelers, winning a defensive fight 17-14. They’re not always flashy, but Bill Belichick usually finds a way to win. This week sees a hungry opponent determined to make up for last week’s debacle.

It’s not often that you put up 473 yards of offense, put up 8.8 yards per pass, win the turnover fight by +2, and lead by 21 points at home in the fourth quarter… and lose.

Chalk it up as a highly fortuitous result as Baltimore defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald called in a terrible second half, resulting in massive chunk plays against two good CBs, Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters.

New England has no speed at the receiver – Miami’s forte. I’m surprised the total hasn’t budged because the Patriots aren’t made to hang in gunfights. And their run defense has yet to allow for a touchdown or a carry of 20+ yards.

The Patriots’ best hope of stealing a wildcard bid is scraping and clawing out low points, 17-14 kinds of games Mac Jones doesn’t make mistakes and the defense — led by Edge Matthew Judon — put teams at field goals. no touchdowns.

Lamar Jackson has not faced the Patriots since Cam Newton was their QB in 2020, and in a game played in a monsoon, the Ravens – favored by a TD on the road – lost 23-17. Look for a similar result in this one as the pats try to screw it up.
