Requiem for a Dream Brought Jared Leto to tears

Darren Aronofsky’s psychological drama Requiem for a Dream saw Jared Leto in a tale about four characters afflicted by drug addiction and how it alters their physical and emotional states. Although the film was critically acclaimed, it failed to make the box office. Jared Leto, on the other hand, praised the film and his character for opening him up to vulnerability. The actor, who confessed he was never one to shed a tear, suffered an emotional wreck during filming, which was also caused by a personal tragedy involving a close friend.

“What’s wild about this film is that I remembered I had a scene where I was supposed to be very emotional and then, literally, as they were shooting my close-up, I got a call. One of my best friends had just been shot in the head and the emotion that swept through that moment…when I realized what a brutal loss it was.”
