  • Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes

INTEGRITY’s merit rating was raised from 91 to 94 after she was successful in the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes for fillies and mares over 1600m at the Fairview Turf Course on Friday 5th August.

The handicappers felt that the 4th finisher DUPLICITY was appropriate for the best line horse, leaving her unchanged at a score of 85. Judging the race that way, 5th placed CELTIC NIGHT is also running to her mark, effectively making her a line horse well and leaving her tracks unchanged at 84.

In addition to the winner, two horses received increases in rating. GOLDEN DAH is up from 81 to 84, ensuring she meets her Western Cape visitors DUPLICITY and CELTIC NIGHT in a handicap race in the right conditions, while DAME OF FLAMES climbs from 81 to 83.

There were drop-offs in three runners. Second place SANTA THERESE is down slightly from 104 to 103, PRINCESS KALISI has been trimmed from 92 to 91 and finally CALANDRA has been dropped slightly from 90 to 89.

GRAZINGINTHEGRASS got his rating upgraded from 104 to 108 after conquering the Listed Memorial Mile in the 1600m on the Fairview grass track on Friday. The handicappers were of the opinion that the 4th placed MARMARA SEA would make the best line horse here and left him unchanged at a rating of 106.

There were also rating increases for 3rd place MY BESTIE going up from 100 to 104, for 5th place YOU KNOW WHO going up from 92 to 97 (actually he gets half of the adjustment achieved after actually walking to a mark of is 102 – which the handicappers didn’t want to take literally) and for 6th place PEACE IN OUR WORLD, which went from 90 to 97. PEACE IN OUR WORLD carried 1kg more than his stablemate YOU KNOW WHO so rate the pair this way they would meet in a handicap race in the right weight conditions.

Two horses received a rating drop. STONE COLD is down from 95 to 92, while CHRISTOPHER ROBIN is down from 111 to 106 (in fact down to 110 after the weights for this event were released).

No fewer than five horses received a rating drop. MOUNT LAUREL is down slightly from 108 to 107, KEEP ON DANCING has been trimmed from 94 to 93, MAGICAL FLIGHT is down from 88 to 86, FREESTATE STAR falls from 91 to 88 and finally AQUAE SULIS falls from 87 to 86.
