HENRIETTA, NY — Play it Again Sports has equipped generations of kids in just about every sport out there. Henrietta’s longtime sporting goods resale store is up for sale as owner John Eaves is ready to retire after 31 years.

“Most people have no idea that there are stores that stock goalie gear. We’ve always done well with the goalkeepers,” said Eaves.
He buys and sells new and used sports equipment. Customers can also trade gear or just take the money. It’s a win-win situation for families with growing children who play sports.
“It’s all about baseball and softball here; Fast Pitch Girls is growing like crazy. Lacrosse, it’s recovered so well from the pandemic,” Eaves said.
Eaves’ children are all grown, so he plans to retire and travel with his wife.
“It’s just about time. Business is stronger than ever. This business has been growing for about seven or eight years and it’s still growing. It’s strong and I’m in no hurry but we will definitely sell it and move on,” Eaves said.
If you decide to buy the store, you’ll get an extensive inventory of gear for every sport, from hockey to soccer to pickleball and even disc golf. It’s everything you need to compete and most importantly, have fun.
“Here is a pink male G20 ping driver on the right. It’s different,” laughed Eaves. “If we don’t have it, you probably don’t need it.”
It was a great gig for him and maybe someone else soon.
