Preview, schedule and how to watch star b-boys and b-girls compete

B-Boys and B-Girls from all over the world will gather at SK Handball Olympic Stadium in Seoul 2022 WDSF World Breaking Championship from 21.-22. October in South Korea.

The urban paradise of Seoul, birthplace of Korean wave and K-pop culture, will welcome over 360 athletes competing in 1v1 breaking battles over two days until two worthy world champions emerge.

Defending their hard-fought titles beginning in 2021 will be the job of the United States B-boy winner and Japanese star B-Girl Ayumi. Both face a crowded field of competition, with the event open to all registered with the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF).

The competition is sure to provide a perfect showcase of Breaking’s athletic dance style ahead of his Olympic debut Paris 2024.

The discipline will be the center of attention after its successful performance at the Olympic Games in France 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos AiresArgentina.

2022 WDSF Breaking World Championships: Eyes on Stars

The leader of South Korea’s b-boys on the road to stardom is Victor Montalvo, also known as B-Boy Victor.

The current reigning world champion and widely regarded as one of the best breaking contenders of all time, the 28-year-old from Florida, USA arrives in Seoul in strong form.

After a hiatus from breaking, Victor has returned to the competitive scene and has begun to rack up a string of victories, most recently winning the gold at the World Games 2022 in BirminghamAlabama, Overcoming B Boy Jeffro 3-1 in an all-American final, much to the delight of the home crowd.

A host of B-Boys are waiting in the wings, ready to challenge Victor for the crown.

World Games runner-up, B-Boy Jeffro, as well as last year’s world silver medalist B-boy Phil magicianrepresenting Canada, both are familiar with what it takes to get to the finals and both know what it takes to meet Victor in a 1v1.

Shigekix, a Japanese b-boy, is another one to check out. The 2018 Youth Olympiad bronze medalist made groundbreaking history by becoming the youngest B-Boy to win the Red Bull BC One World Final in 2020 and continues to make waves at competitive events.

In January of this year, he defended his All-Japanese Breaking Crown before claiming bronze for his country at the World Games in July.

And if you’re looking for a future breaking star, then look no further than b-boy Lorenzo from the breaking powerhouse nation, The Netherlands. The talented crusher, just 16, has made his rise through the competitive ranks and could go far in Seoul.

2021 B-Girl World Champion Ayumi will have her hands full defending the world title in South Korea.

The Japanese breaker, who started the sport aged 21, will face a strained field led by her own compatriot B girl Ami who beat American Gold in a thrilling final at the 2022 World Games B-Girl Sunnywho will also participate in this year’s Worlds.

She was also likely to face a strong scrutiny from the home crowd who will be backing the local star B-Girl Yell. The 22-year-old from the Gamblerz crew is a bronze medalist from Buenos Aires 2018 and is being praised for her smooth running.

European hopes are spearheaded by Germany B girl Jilou by the Nin10do and Jimakeno crews who took bronze at the 2021 and 2019 editions of World Champions and French hopeful Paris 2024 B-Girl Sarah bee.
