Prince Andrew eyes new TV tell-all in latest bid to slip back into royal life
The disgraced Duke of York tells friends he believes he has a shot at redemption after being implicated in a sex abuse scandal, which he vehemently denies
Prince Andrew is considering giving a new in-depth interview as he tries to find a way back into the royal fold.
The disgraced Duke of York has told friends he believes he has a shot at redemption after being implicated in a sex abuse scandal, which he vehemently denies.
Sources say Andrew has warmed to the idea of narrating “his side” of events over the past two years, since his disastrous appearance on BBC Newsnight, in which he said he couldn’t sweat.
A source close to the Duke said: “Nothing is off the table.
“Andrew was forced to leave his job and now possibly his home.
“He feels like he has little else to lose when he’s already paid an awfully high price.”
Sources say the Duke is favoring a US channel after taking note of Prince Harry’s revelation during a recent promotional tour for his explosive memoir Spare.
Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, with whom he still lives in his 30-room mansion Royal Lodge in Windsor despite the king’s orders to leave, has slowly lifted the lid on the duke’s plight.
Fergie, who dubbed the Duke “poor Prince Andrew” last week, has also met with US journalist Daphne Barak.
She interviewed Andrew’s former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving 20 years in prison for sex crimes.
We can reveal that the Duke has been approached by at least two major US networks with offers for an interview in the UK.
Andrew has not been in the US since the FBI announced they would speak to him as a witness in the investigation into the late pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplices.
Andrew was forced to step down from all his royal duties and stripped of his military and charitable positions over allegations that he raped a 17-year-old on three separate occasions in 2001.
Last year he paid Virginia Giuffre £12million in an out-of-court settlement despite vehemently proclaiming his innocence.
Fergie, 63, who is currently on a world tour to promote her new novel A Most Intriguing Lady, lamented how “sad” it was to see her ex-husband’s “death” in the public eye.
The King and other senior royals like the Prince of Wales are likely to be furious at the thought of Andrew stepping back into the spotlight.
Andrew was mocked after speaking to Emily Maitlis on Newsnight in November 2019, leading to his departure from royal life.
He claimed he was “too honorable” while visiting friend Epstein after he was convicted of sex crimes.
The monarch believes his brother should “take a backseat” according to royal sources.
Andrew was offered the five-bedroom Frogmore Cottage by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following the eviction of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Andrew is also furious that the king could ban him from wearing ceremonial robes to his May 6 coronation.
A royal source said: “To say that relations between the two brothers are a little strained at the moment would be a gross understatement.”
Buckingham Palace did not comment.
