PSG make Christophe Galtier sack decision after club’s latest Champions League failure

The leaders of the Paris Saint-Germain hierarchy are believed to have made a decision on manager Christophe Galtier’s future following the club’s recent Champions League elimination

Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier is secure in his role as manager for now, despite the club’s recent Champions League exit.

The French giants were swept aside in the round of 16 by Bayern Munich, who won 1-0 in Paris before recording a 2-0 win on home soil to put immense pressure on Galtier. It has been reported that the manager was already losing strength in the dressing room after a slow start to the year and this recent trough has only made things worse.

PSG are currently eight points clear at the top of Ligue 1, but as so often the main goal this season would have been to finally win the Champions League.

With Galtier at the helm, the reigning French champions fell out of the Coupe de France last month after a 2-1 away defeat at Marseille and now have only the league left to attempt to win.

The 56-year-old has seen both his tactics and decision making questioned this year.

The fact that he used three teenagers in his squad for the trip to Allianz against Bayern raised eyebrows given what was at stake, while his constant tweaks to the structure and system have also sparked backlash.
