Reactions Pour in on Social Media As Sharath Kamal Wins Gold
Veteran paddler Sharath Kamal presented India with a gold medal on the final day of the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG). It was his fourth medal at the ongoing event in Birmingham after beating England’s Liam Pitchford 11-13, 11-7, 11. 2, 11-6, 11-8. Interestingly, it was his first CWG men’s singles gold since winning it in Melbourne in 2006.
In the first set, Sharath had a game point but Pitchford, ranked 20th in the world, kept his cool to stage a comeback, winning the first game 12-10. Sharath returned to winning ways by winning the second set 11-7. His experience in high-pressure games came to the fore when he won the third game 11-2.
