To celebrate the launch of Richard Mille’s first women’s sports watch, which took three years to develop, the Swiss watch manufacturer asked six inspirational and influential athletes to share their personal insights into the very special characteristics of the RM 07-04 Automatic Sport .

The athletes – including two motorsport icons, world number two in golf, two track and field stars and a three-time Winter Olympics gold medalist – are Aurora Straus, Margot Laffite, Nelly Korda, Nafi Thiam, Yuliya Levchenko and Ester Ledecká. You are now part of the Richard Mille sports family, which exemplifies unparalleled performance, passion and boundless ambition. The superlative RM 07-04, consisting of a collection of six watches, weighs only 36 grams (including the strap) and has a skeletonized in-house automatic movement.

“Our partners are passionate people willing to push the boundaries of their respective disciplines to succeed. Our relationships are based on respect, communication, trust and mutual admiration. These are the key to our development. They help us move toward perfection,” said Amanda Mille, Richard Mille’s Brand and Partnerships Director, of the selection of the six global athletes.

Richard Mille’s support for his athletes is unwavering. Tempered by a shared desire to achieve unparalleled performance, this enduring relationship is reflected in the creation of timepieces that ceaselessly push the boundaries of watchmaking artistry.

Richard Mille’s RM 07-04 Automatic Sport

The RM 07-04 is perfectly tailored to the requirements of the disciplines of all female athletes. It combines ergonomics and ultra-lightness, performance and resistance, extreme skeletonization and architectural aesthetics. A collection of six watches symbolizes perfect versatility and continuity in the growing world of women’s watches at Richard Mille, a world where elegance and sophistication are combined with ultra-high performance and sporting prowess.

With a total weight of 36 grams, including the strap, the RM 07-04 is a superlative piece, the lightest, boldest and most energetic in this new watch series. It took three years of development to create the RM 07-04 Automatic Sport and the CRMA8 caliber, as many challenges had to be overcome: the development of a new, very compact and skeletonized in-house automatic movement that guarantees a shock resistance of 5000 g and the case integrates perfectly with the movement so that the inner workings are visible. The extreme processing underlines the elegance of this uncompromising mechanism. The compactness of the calibre, in particular, emphasizes the quality of the workmanship all the more since it significantly increases the assembly time at the watchmaker’s, for whom errors are simply unacceptable.

One of the parts that required the most attention was the flange, which was machined as if it belonged to the movement. At first glance, the flange and the movement appear to be one and the same, balancing the architecture of the whole, which includes traverses in titanium and, in particular, integrates the pierced window of the function selector. The boldness of this construction creates a remarkable play of visual dynamism.

The function selector, a complication synonymous with the brand, eliminates any pressure on the winding stem. Linked to a pusher at 4 o’clock, the selector switch allows the wearer to choose between the neutral (N), winding (W), or time setting (H) position with a simple push. A hand at 5 o’clock indicates the active function on the grade 5 titanium bridge. Its inverted position relative to other such selectors at Richard Mille offers a better view of the movement’s kinematics in action, underscoring the brand’s ingenuity.

The signature of this model is stamped on a grade 5 titanium insert in the caseband. The RM 07-04 Automatic Sport is Richard Mille’s most “airy” women’s model, a feat made possible by the use of materials such as Quartz TPT and Carbon TPT for the case.

The identity of this collection, which is permeated by sporting desire for performance and competition euphoria, is revealed in its color palette. The case of the RM 07-04 comes in different color tones, black for the carbon TPT model and cream white, mauve, salmon, green and dark blue for the five quartz TPT models. The crown is made of grade 5 titanium, satin-finished, micro-blasted and polished, while the rubber of the crown is available in different colors, as are the pushers in colored TPT quartz bound in titanium.
