Roman Roy Wearing Silver Rolex Datejust Watch in ‘Succession’ Season 4 – Robb Report

Kieran Culkin’s Roman Roy is hard at work on HBO’s Season 4 premiere successor. He plans the next step with the siblings Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Kendall (Jeremy Strong), which can finally free them from the shadow of their father Roman Roy (Brian Cox). While their original mission to launch The Hundred – “Substack meets Masterclass meets the Economist meets the New Yorker” – falters, the trio seem to have finalized the deal, Nan Pierce’s (Cherry Jones) old media company PGM to the end from Episode 1. The deal, however, will cost her a whopping $10 billion — so it’s a good thing that Roman appears to be wearing a discontinued Rolex Datejust from previous seasons.

Roman’s choice of watch suggests he hasn’t been on a flashy new watch buying spree (or jet skis or sushi, for that matter) lately, but his number one choice is of course still a very high-end model in the watch world .

The watch in question is a stainless steel Rolex Datejust with an Oyster bracelet, Roman numerals (of course) and a smooth bezel — a configuration the brand hasn’t offered in a few years. Farfetch offers a very similar looking 2013 model with a 36mm black dial, white Roman numerals, baton hands, a cyclops lens to magnify the date, and an automatic movement for around $9,600.

The Rolex Datejust was introduced in 1945 with a 36mm case. In 2009, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust II was released as the first 41mm model of the watch, followed by the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 41 in 2016. Datejust watches come with either the caliber 2236 (Datejust 31) or the caliber 3235 fitted and come with either an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. Famous movie characters, including american psychoPatrick Bateman (Christian Bale) The color of money‘s Eddie Felson (Paul Newman) and The Wolf of Wall Street‘s Mark Hanna (Matthew McConaughey) have all worn variations of the iconic watch.

This may have been the very model youngest Roy rocked.

Far-fetched

With such a long legacy, Roman’s choice of watch appears to be anything but a coincidence – and the design choices continue successor never really are. What’s most notable about this watch, however, is that it’s not particularly flashy, expensive, or new: this is clearly a watch that he’s had for many years, wears again often, and is comfortable in, despite never having been the most expensive watch in the room . Perhaps the watch has sentimental value; or maybe, in his own weird way, Roman is the least materialistic of Roy after all.
