Selection Sunday 2023 show time, TV channel for NCAA Tournament bracket reveal

The biggest — some would argue best — postseason in American esports is fast approaching.

But before we can get the 2023 NCAA tournament going, the task remains to see exactly which teams will have the opportunity to compete in March Madness this season and where they will be seeded. Enter Selection Sunday, which will also make the season of some hopeful at-lasss while crushing those just missing out.

In a way, the NCAA selection show is a condensed microcosm of March Madness. It’s packed with storylines, controversy, Cinderellas, trending picks, heartbreak, exhilaration…everything you can expect when the teams actually tip and play basketball.

In fact, there are some big winners and big losers even before the tournament starts.

Sporting News has you covered with everything you need to know about Selection Sunday, March Madness and everything else basketball fans need to know for 2023:

When is Selection Sunday 2023?

  • Date: Sunday March 12th
  • Time: 6 p.m. ET

Selection Sunday 2023 will take place on Sunday March 12th.

The bracket is expected to be unveiled at 6 p.m. ET, although it could be delayed if any of the five scheduled conference tournament championship games have yet to be completed by that time. The Big Ten have their last pick of the day at 3:30pm ET.

The selection committee cannot complete their group until all 32 automatic qualifiers have been determined, which of course affects how the standings fit into the equation.

What channel is the March Madness Selection Show on?

  • TV channel: CBS
  • Live broadcast: NCAA March Madness Live, Paramount+

CBS will air the NCAA selection show. Streaming options include the NCAA March Madness Live app and CBS’ dedicated streaming service, Paramount+.

2023 NCAA tournament selection format

The NCAA selection committee will seed all 68 teams using its NET tool as the primary seeding tool. In addition, they will also place great emphasis on travel distance and geographic proximity for the higher seeded teams.

Essentially, the committee can move a team up or down a seeding line — or to a different region entirely — depending on whether the committee feels it more or less deserves having a shorter travel distance to their respective tournament venues.

Other factors that help with betting are overall record, schedule strength, records against quad 1, 2, 3 and 4 opponents and more. The sowing is carried out in such a way that the uppermost total sowing is formed should have the easiest route to the NCAA Championship, with each relegated team having an incremental increase in difficulty, whether due to potential opponents or travel distance.
