Sponsors play big part in sport awards

Aberdeen’s Sports Awards 2023 took place on Thursday evening on P&J Live.

Once again, the celebration of sport in Granite City, organized by the Evening Express, was supported by a wide range of Aberdeen community sponsors.

Burness Paull’s Lisa Taylor said: “Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. The evening was an inspirational evening celebrating talent and Burness Paull was delighted to be a part of it again this year.”

Atholl Scott Financial Services’ Lesley Pottinger echoed the sentiment, saying, “Atholl Scott Financial Services is once again delighted to be a part of this fantastic event and has nothing but admiration for all of the nominees. Congratulations to the winners.”

Bounty Competitions’ Leanne and Calvin Davidson added: “Well done everyone – such a fantastic event to attend!”

Duncan Sinclair, Managing Director of Aberdeen Sports Village said: “Congratulations to all winners and finalists. The caliber was outstanding and I can imagine how difficult it was for the jury.

“I would also like to take the time to recognize Alison Mathieson and Len Nicol, who have received Lifetime Achievement Awards for their outstanding commitment and contributions to the sport.”

Graeme Dale, Head of Sport and Active Communities at Sport Aberdeen, sponsor of the Sports Achiever of the Year, said: “Sport is vital in our communities so it is important that we celebrate Aberdeen’s local achievements. Congratulations to all three finalists in this category who have achieved remarkable results in their sport.”

Kim McRobbie of Active Schools – the schools’ supporters – said: “All three shortlisted schools demonstrated innovative and creative ways of using sport and physical activity to support their students’ mental and physical health – they should all be very proud be!”

Fraser McCallum, CALA Regional Sales Manager, who championed the Team Achievement of the Year category, said: “CALA is delighted to sponsor the Team Achievement award at this brilliant, local event and would like to congratulate all the nominees and winners in all categories. “

As the company sponsored the Inspiration category, idverde’s Frank King said: “idverde is proud to be part of these impressive awards and to be among the very worthy winners.”

Nick Little from the International School of Aberdeen, who supported the Student Sports Achiever of the Year award, added: “All finalists are winners in our eyes thanks to the hard work, passion and enthusiasm they devote to their sporting careers. We wish them continued success for the future.”

Gita Klovane, Marketing Manager at Costco said: “Costco was delighted to support the Aberdeen Sports Awards and sponsor one of the categories. Congratulations to all finalists and winners.”

StudioBE’s Lynn Ross said: “StudioBE is delighted to sponsor the Young Coach of the Year award. Congratulations to everyone.”

Brian Pahlmann, Club of the Year Chairman, Co-Sponsor ClubSport Aberdeen added: “It has been a pleasure to be a part of this and most importantly to celebrate the impact clubs have on their local communities. Congratulations to all winners and finalists.”

Grampian Disability Sport was their co-sponsor of Club of the Year and Alison Shaw said: “Grampian Disability Sport was delighted to co-sponsor an award this year.
