VR46 rider Marco Bezzecchi set a new lap record in qualifying at Buriram and took pole position by beating Jorge Martin’s Pramac bike by 0.021s.

Factory Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia will be on the front row as the top-placed championship contender alongside Bezzecchi and Martin.

His title rivals Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) will take fourth and 13th respectively.

Marc Marquez will start the race from eighth place as the leading Honda on the grid.

To update: The Thai GP gets underway at 15:55 local time (+7 GMT) at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram after a delay due to heavy rain.

The race goes over 25 instead of the planned 26 laps.
