Honestly, it’s a bit of a game changer, especially in terms of armor rerolling.
You can buff weapons in a similar fashion to the base game’s Ramp Up, adding attributes to affinity, elemental damage, or just pure offense. Qurious Armor Crafting, on the other hand, is more akin to the Crucible you already use to roll talismans. Essentially, you use a special material to unlock armor upgrades and reroll, potentially changing your stats or adding abilities.

How to unlock Qurious Crafting
Since Qurious Crafting is an endgame feature, You must first defeat Gaismagorm and get to MR10. This will open up the hunt for infested monsters, and once you defeat the infested Arzuros you will be unlocked anomaly investigations. Just pick one from the random quest pool with Chichae and completing it will open up Qurious Crafting for weapons and armor Minayle the blacksmith.
Qurious Crafting: How to Polish Weapons
They make Sunbreak’s best weapons Affected Materials, so it’s probably a good idea to forge one of these before considering investing too much in upgrades, especially since unlocking a weapon for augmentation also costs infested materials. Here’s a quick overview of how it works:
- Choose a weapon in Qurious Crafting and activate the Augmentation by paying with Infested Materials.
- This unlocks three anomaly slots and potential buffs depending on the weapon. These include boosts to attack, affinity, elemental damage, sharpness, or even a rampage decoration slot upgrade.
- You can purchase two different tiers of each upgrade with Afflicted Materials and slot them into your weapon, which occupies some of the Anomaly slots. You can then unlock two more slots with Afflicted Materials.
It’s a system very similar to changing buddy skills; There are buffs to choose from, but you only have a certain number of slots to work with, so you’ll need to choose wisely and adapt to your playstyle.
Qurious Crafting: How to Reroll Armor
By far the more powerful system is Qurious Armor Crafting, as it gives you the ability to upgrade resistances and defenses and add new armor abilities and decoration slots. However, you need another resource to do this: Amber Essence. You get Amber Essence by completing Anomaly Investigations and it is used to unlock armor upgrades and perform rerolls. As with weapons, you’ll want to make sure you have high rarity armor to invest in first. Here’s how the process works:
- Complete an anomaly investigation to earn either Amber Essence+ if you have armor of rarity nine, or Prime Amber Essence for rarity ten. These are listed as rewards on the monster’s quest page. You need to unlock more research to get Prime Amber Essence.
- Go to Minayle and use the Amber Essence to unlock an armor piece enhancement.
- Now you can use any Amber Essence to boost your armor, potentially rerolling their resistances, defenses, decoration slots, or adding abilities. These reps can also remove abilities and reduce stats, making them a bit of a compromise.
- If you like the newly rerolled version, you can select it, but if you’d rather keep your old rerolled version, you can select that instead.
You can also complete research requests for Bahari where you hunt specific affected monsters. If you hunt ten of these monsters, you will be rewarded with Investigation Coins which you can use in his shop to purchase a range of items including Amber Essence.
How to unlock more anomaly investigations
Rare materials for affected monsters only come from high-level anomaly investigations, and you have to unlock these by breaking parts of affected monsters and collecting Qurio-infested items during affected hunts. You can recognize these items by the small red fireflies floating around them.
Anomaly investigations are randomized, but they still have a tier system, so these are essential if you want to unlock better hunts. If you find a random anomaly investigation that you really like, you can lock it to farm multiple times.
