Sussexes ‘confirm official invitation to King’s coronation via email’
King Charles III has reportedly officially invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to his and the Queen Consort’s coronation this spring.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told The Times that they have received “email correspondence” about the coronation, but no decision has been disclosed about whether they will accept the invitation or not.
It comes after reports that the King may offer the couple a suite of rooms in Buckingham Palace that previously belonged to the Duke of York, after asking them to vacate their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage.
It is understood that the King has instead offered the keys to Frogmore Cottage to his disgraced brother, who is said to be “resisting” any attempt to move him out of his current home, the Royal Lodge.
On Saturday evening (4 March), Harry took part in a new interview with author Gabor Mate, during which he revealed that the lack of physical affection he received as a child impacts the way he parents his two children, Archie and Lilibet, today.
He also spoke candidly about his drug use and said that marijuana “really helped him mentally, while cocaine “did nothing” for him.

The King will reportedly offer the Duke and Duchess of Sussex an old suite of rooms that previously belonged to the Duke of York in Buckingham Palace as their UK residence, after asking them to vacate Frogmore Cottage.
Following their eviction from their UK home, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to face difficulties if they ever want to visit the UK if they are not offered alternative accommodation by the monarch.
The Mail on Sunday has now quoted a source as saying: “His Majesty is furious [with Harry], as is William. But the King is not a bad man. He has no wish to see his brother [Prince] Andrew homeless or penniless. Nor does he wish to deprive the Sussexes of a base in the UK.
“London is a better fit. The Sussexes have always wanted rooms at Buckingham Palace. They could have Andrew’s old rooms there, which are currently being vacated.”
It is understood that Andrew has been offered the keys to Frogmore Cottage, but is “resisting” moving out of his current residence, the Royal Lodge. He has lived there for nearly 20 years.

A royal expert has said that King Charles’ removal of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from their UK residence signifies a turning point in how the monarch will treat the couple going forward.
Royal commentator and celebrity manager Mayah Riaz told The Independent that the decision to “evict” Harry and Meghan from Frogmore “shows that King Charles is making a clear break” from the couple.
She added that, given the timing of the news, “one can only assume it is [Charles’] response to Spare, without verbally giving a response to the public”.
Riaz said that previous reports suggested Andrew had been trying to make his “comeback” into public life, but moving out of Royal Lodge would show “this is now not possible for him”.
She also suggested that, since Queen Elizabeth II has died, Andrew is now “unable to get favourite child privileges from his brother, the King”.

The Duke of York has resided in the Royal Lodge in Windsor Park for nearly 20 years, but reports suggest his time there may be coming to an end.
Prince Andrew first moved into the vast property in 2004 and made it his family home. He lives there with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
But it has now been reported that he may have to move out of Royal Lodge, as his brother the King may cut his £249,000 annual allowance.
The Royal Lodge is located around three miles south of Windsor Castle and is part of the Crown Estate and was previously the Windsor residence of the Queen Mother from 1952 until her death in 2002.
It was built in the mid-1600s and used to house various staff and members of the royal family over the years. It has had several names, including Lower Lodge and Great Lodge, before becoming known as Royal Lodge.
The grounds surrounding the Royal Lodge extend to 98 acres. The property itself has 30 rooms, including seven bedrooms spread across the two topmost floors.

Inside Frogmore Cottage, the 10-bedroom, Grade II-listed residence

The Grade II-listed building has been part of the royal family’s property portfolio since the 19th century.
Over the years, various members of the royal family have lived in the 10-bedroom house, which was first built as a retreat for Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III, in 1801.
It is currently known for being the first marital home and UK residence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who moved there in 2019. It was gifted to them by the late Queen Elizabeth after they married in 2018.
Harry and Meghan carried out renovations on the cottage using £2.4 million of taxpayer’s money, but have since paid it back in full by making a contribution to the Sovereign Grant.
The payment “fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage”, which remains “the UK residence of the duke and his family”, Harry’s spokesperson said in 2020.
The couple most recently spent time at the cottage in 2022, when they came to the UK to attend the late Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations. They also hosted their daughter Lilibet’s first birthday there.

King Charles III’s decision to request the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to “vacate” their UK residence cannot be seen as anything other than a reaction to the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, a royal expert has said.
RS Locke, a freelance writer and royal commentator, has told The Independent that it is “impossible to believe this isn’t” the monarch reacting to his youngest son’s controversial memoir Spare, which was released in January.
Locke pointed to reports that Harry and Meghan were asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage “within days of the book’s release”.
She said that in her opinion: “Evicting the Sussex family from Frogmore Cottage is transparently punitive and King Charles wanted the couple and the public to know it.”

Piers Morgan has said that King Charles III is “moving to save the monarchy” from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as he requests that the pair “vacate” their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
Speaking on his TalkTV show Piers Uncensored Thursday (2 March), Morgan said: “Moving to save the monarchy and its reputation from these two flamethrowers, who keep wanting to trash it and burn it to the ground.”
When accused by co-host Tessa Dunlop of “shouting” Harry and Meghan “down”, Morgan said he thinks they are a “malevolent duo intent on fleecing their royal titles for hundreds of millions of dollars” adding that they are causing “damage to their family and the institution”.
Morgan said the King and Prince William are “sick and tired” of being “trashed” by the couple, alluding to Harry’s claims made in his tell-all memoir Spare and his Netflix documentary with his wife, Harry & Meghan.
Discussing whether they should attend the coronation, Morgan said “good riddance” to the pair and expressed that he does not want them to attend the ceremony.

The Frogmore Cottage is a Grade II listed two-storey, stucco-faced house sitting in the north of the Frogmore Estate on the Windsor Estate.
The estate is a beautiful 17th-century manor that has been a royal residence since 1792, which was where Harry and Meghan had their evening reception after their wedding in May 2018.
Owned by the Crown Estate, it was a gift from Harry’s grandmother, the late Queen, and had been the couple’s UK home.
The house was built from 1680 to 1684 by Charles II’s architect, Hugh May, on the estates of Great and Little Frogmore, which were bought by Henry VIII in the 16th century and led to various tenants.
Frogmore House was repaired, restored, and redecorated in the 1980s, revealing lost early 18th-century wall paintings by Louis Laguerre illustrating scenes from Virgil’s Aeneid.
In 2019, royal accounts revealed that Meghan and Harry paid £2.4 million to cover the refurbishment and rental of Frogmore Cottage.
The bill included structural work, rewiring, and flooring, among other costs.

The House of Windsor has always had its colourful characters we lived to love or hate: the saintly, hunted Diana; Princess Margaret, the haughty yet ageing wild child; the Queen Mum’s pink chiffon teamed with a steely edge.
The evolving trend in recent years is more insidious though, with ever more bitter tribes forming, getting indescribably angry about the behaviour of people they will never, ever meet.
I’ve a feeling that the unifying power of the institution has been slowly ebbing away without anyone much noticing, distracted as folk are by the stories of betrayals, family divides and literally violent sibling rivalry.

Prince Harry “provoked” his father King Charles into evicting he and his wife Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage, a royal expert has claimed.
“Harry and Meghan provoked him [King Charles] with Harry’s disgraceful book and the interviews he gave,” Tom Bower told Page Six, referring to Harry’s memoir, Spare.
“I mean what did he expect?” the author said. “Harry wanted the royal family to come on bended knee begging for forgiveness and he’s completely crossed the spectrum, he’s in the mad wilderness of deranged victimhood.”
Prince Andrew ‘told friends he could have to move out if allowance cut’

Prince Andrew is reported to have recently told friends he might have to move out of the 98-acre Royal Lodge estate if the King cuts his royal allowance, reports my colleague Kate Ng.
He is expected to have his £249,000 annual allowance cut from April, but has reportedly said this would leave him struggling to cover the cost of maintenance for Royal Lodge.
Prince Andrew has lived in the 30-room Royal Lodge, located three miles south of Windsor Castle, since 2004, having signed a 75-year lease for £1m on the property, which was formerly home to the Queen Mother until her death in 2002.
He has spent around £7.5m repairing and renovating the property. It has been reported that the estate could now be worth £30m if it were to put on the market.

The Grade II-listed Frogmore Cottage has been part of the royal family’s property portfolio since the 19th century.
Over the years, various members of the royal family have lived in the 10-bedroom house, which was first built as a retreat for Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III, in 1801.
It is currently known for being the first marital home and UK residence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have carried out renovations on Frogmore cottage using £2.4m of taxpayer’s money since they were handed the keys to the property by the late Queen in 2018.
But the couple have since paid it back in full by making a contribution to the Sovereign Grant.

Sussexes confirm they have been asked to move out of Frogmore Cottage

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have confirmed that they have been asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage, the residence they were given by the late Queen following their marriage in 2018.
“We can confirm the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage,” a spokesperson for the couple said in a statement issued late on Wednesday.
