Team Canada Olympic Day Grant – Team Canada

In celebration of Olympic Day, recognized annually by the IOC on June 23, Team Canada is opening applications for the Team Canada Olympic Day Grant to Canadian schools with the goal of empowering students to play and stay in sports.

Sport brings communities together, teaches us leadership and fair play, and promotes our health and well-being. But often there are barriers that result in young Canadians either “not” or “not being able to participate” in sports. We believe the COC has a role to play in ensuring access and a quality experience in sport at all levels.

The Team Canada Olympic Day Grant provides funding to increase access to sport in schools while giving athletes the opportunity to inspire students through their stories.

Athletes have the opportunity to practice tenacity, dedication and endurance on a daily basis. You understand what it’s like to face challenges and adversities. By sharing these experiences with students using the principles of sport, students can more easily relate their own lives to the Olympic values of respect, friendship and excellence.

HOW IT WORKS

A total of 5 $5,000 scholarships are available to Canadian schools across the country to help students get involved and stay in sports. Successful schools will also receive a 90-minute presentation by an athlete from Team Canada to inspire students to get involved in sports and develop the skills to thrive and thrive in their daily lives.

The COC will photograph and record the athletes’ presentations to share highlights on Team Canada’s channels on June 23 to encourage more schools to encourage their students to play sports, stay in sports and celebrate Olympic Day celebrate.
