How many mass shootings will there be in 2023?

Among high-income countries around the world, the United States has stood out for years for one reason: its rate of gun violence.

Over the past decade, the rate of gun violence in the United States has far exceeded that of any other nation in relatively affluent countries with populations of 10 million or more. According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, the US adjusted firearm homicide rate is 22 times that of the European Union and higher than Asian countries like Japan and the Republic of Korea.
