The BMW i4 wins AutoTrader’s Best Compact Luxury Car for 2023.

  • Awarded by the automotive magazine AutoTrader.
  • For the first time, an electric vehicle has won this category.
  • Purely electric range of up to 484 km.
  • Third Canadian award for the BMW i4.

Richmond Hill, ON. Today, Canadian automotive magazine AutoTrader announced the BMW i4 as the winner of its Best Compact Luxury Car 2023 award. While the compact luxury car category is open to cars with all powertrains, this is the first time an electric vehicle has won the category. A win in this category for the BMW i4 shows not only the growing acceptance of electric vehicles, but also the quality of the BMW i4 product range.

More than 20 automotive journalists from across Canada choose the best vehicles in over 30 categories. When voting, the AutoTrader judges consider over a dozen criteria including technical excellence, driver satisfaction, innovation, performance, value, safety and more. The AutoTrader Awards were introduced in this format in 2019.

The BMW i4 is available in three variants; the eDrive35, eDrive40 and the M50 xDrive and has a base MSRP of CAD 54,990. Depending on the selected variant and equipment, the i4 offers a purely electric range of between 365 and 484 km.

The i4 combines the functionality and spaciousness of the Gran Coupé design with the spontaneous power delivery of BMW’s latest 5th generation eDrive, which can also be found in the BMW iX Sport Activity Vehicle. Best-in-class driving dynamics and long-distance comfort, elegant design, uncompromising workmanship, state-of-the-art user-vehicle interface and advanced infotainment and driver assistance technologies combine to create an emission-free BMW that deserves the nickname “Ultimate Driving Machine”.
