The latest from Byemoor-Endiang – Stettler Independent

The Mardi Gras Pancake Dinner hosted by the Endiang Church on February 21 at Endiang Hall was well attended.

All proceeds went to the Byemoor School Library to purchase books, raising more than $1,000.

It was nice to see so many students helping with serving and cleaning up.

The Endiang Community Society kindly provided the use of the hall for the event.

Congratulations to Kristina Jones on winning the Sobey’s gift card donated by the Stettler Learning Center for completing her course interest survey for our region. Byemoor – Endiang had the most complete census of any rural parish.

Doreen, Eugene and Becky Nixon and Betty Campbell returned home on February 22nd from an 11 day trip to Las Vegas. They drove back and forth in the car. They reported that the weather in Las Vegas was cooler than normal this year.

Since nobody won $1 million, they must go back and try their luck again.

The first Sunday Morning Coffee Time was held on February 26th at the Endiang Community Hall. It continues every other Sunday at 10:00 am and everyone is welcome to come and see their neighbors, have coffee and eat some good things. The next one will take place on March 12th.

Several locals enjoyed the Castor Little Theater production of Things My Mother Taught Me, a comedy that ran at Castor Community Hall from February 19th to March 4th. A group from the Endmoor Drop-In Center attended on Sunday 26th February.

Hockey action at the Byemoor Arena over the weekend saw the Endmoor U9 team host Kneehill on Saturday and Hanna on Sunday.

Consider the County in Your Community Event, a rural indoor tour hosted by the County of Stettler, coming to the Byemoor Community Center on Thursday 9th March.

Doors open at 6pm, dinner is served at 6.30pm, presentations and discussions follow.

Happy 80th birthday goes to Jim Bates who celebrated his special day on February 17th. Congratulations on this special milestone, Jim, and best wishes for many more to come.

Clay Bunney celebrated his 40th birthday with a gathering of friends and family at the Byemoor Hotel on Saturday February 25th. Welcome to middle age, Clay.
