Important storylines

Spurs are looking very good to finish in the top four at least this season, but Antonio Conte’s side were very lucky to walk away in a 2-2 draw at Chelsea last time out. That result, although overplayed, suggests a newfound resilience at Tottenham and Harry Kane emerged late with the crucial equaliser. If they are to close the gap on title favorites Manchester City and Liverpool this season, they will need to brush aside teams like Wolves to remain in the hunt. They did that with minimal effort against an attack-oriented Southampton on the opening day of the season. Let’s see how they fare against a solid, stubborn team that sits back and defends deep.

Speaking of Wolves, their main problem once again looks to be scoring goals. Raul Jimenez is injured and the likes of Pedro Neto, Daniel Podence and Hwang-Hee Chan missed great chances against Fulham last weekend. They have switched to a 4-4-2 system this season and Lage is looking to rejuvenate his squad after a poor end to the 2021-22 season. But let’s not forget that Wolves were pushing for European qualification for most of last season before the wheels fell off. Also, Wolves have played three of their last four Premier League games away at Tottenham…

In-form players to watch

Harry Kane scored his goal against Chelsea last time out and he will try to do his best to place Son and Kulusevski behind Wolves’ full-backs. Hugo Lloris was also really good in the first few weeks of this season.

For Wolves it’s the same old story as Jose Sa’s save from penalties that gave them a point at home against Fulham last time out. New signing Matheus Nunes is likely to join the squad straight away and his quality on the ball as a true box-to-box midfielder will delight Wolves fans.
