Twitter is known for allowing people to post messages or tweets no longer than 280 characters. Tweeting or reading through tweets all day can get boring, especially when nothing new pops up in your feed.
Sometimes you might even want to talk to your friends on Twitter. Did you know you can message people directly on Twitter? If not, here’s how to send your favorite tweets or GIFs directly to your friends.
To receive and send DMs you must follow the person and that person must follow you. However, you can receive DMs from anyone if you “check the box next to Allow message requests from everyone in your privacy and security settings,” according to Twitter. You can also Receive a Direct Message from someone you don’t follow if you have previously sent them a direct message.

According to Twitter, How to send a direct message via your web browser:

From the navigation bar on the left of your screen, click Messages.

Click New Message

In the address field, enter the name or @username of the person you want to message (group messages can include up to 50 people).

According to Twitter, To pin a direct message:

Go to your Direct Message inbox.

Tap the conversation you want to pin

Select “Pin Conversation”.
Now your pinned message will appear at the top of your direct messages.
