Watch Blake Shelton Teach Jimmy Fallon How to Line Dance

Blake Shelton and Jimmy Fallon don their Boot Scootin’ Boogie.

The country singer, 46, and the talk show host, 47, donned their dancing shoes on Thursday night’s episode The Tonight Showwith Shelton teaching his buddy some classic (and not-so-classic) line dancing moves.

Though Shelton initially objected to Fallon’s attempts to get him on his feet — “I can’t dance,” he said at first — the star eventually got on board.

“Like a freestyle, done?” he said. “Oh double, you didn’t see it coming twice did you?”

The movements were inspired by The voice Coach’s new single “No Body,” for which Shelton directed a ’90s-inspired music video set in a line-dancing country bar.

“When we recorded the song, I thought it sounded like a ’90s country song,” he told Fallon. “I thought man…remembered [me] the songs we heard on the radio back then.”

At the mention of the ’90s, Fallon burst into song, first with the 1991 Brooks & Dunn hit “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” and then with the 1973 Eagles classic “Desperado.”

“There’s kind of a good ’90s line-dancing feel to ‘No Body,'” Fallon explained.

Shelton recently spoke to PEOPLE about his decision to bring back his mullet for the “No Body” music video, saying it was only the right thing to do.

“[Wearing the mullet] felt very natural to me. Especially doing the video in that particular bar. The air conditioning wasn’t on. It was hot there,” he said. “Hair was stuck to my neck and the side of my face. And I remember thinking, ‘Oh yeah, that’s why I ended up cutting off my mullet.’ Not because it wasn’t cool or trendy anymore, but because it was physically irritating.”

“No Body” tells the story of a man who doesn’t want to be with anyone but the person he is with – literally “No Body”.

“Don’t wanna scoot the boots with no body/Get straight tequila trunk on no body,” he sings on the track. “Wrap these arms around no body/body but yours.”

Meanwhile, the star also recently launched a collection with Lands’ End, which includes clothing and home items like blankets, coolers, duvets and more.

“When they came up and said, ‘We have this idea,’ it made sense because it’s not just clothing, it’s a lifestyle brand,” he told PEOPLE. “And that’s why I felt like it was working for me, and that’s why I was so excited about it. Because it’s mostly clothing, but it’s clothes that I would wear either when I’m on stage or even just working on the ranch in Oklahoma. They’re jeans, they’re button-down flannel shirts. You can roll up your sleeves.

Fans will soon be able to catch the star in the upcoming 22nd season of The voice, which will premiere Monday on NBC. Joining him on the podium are John Legend, Camila Cabello and his wife Gwen Stefani.
