The fight will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on Showtime PPV in the US
Plant, a former IBF super middleweight champion, lost the belt to Canelo Alvarez in 2021. However, “Sweethands” returned to the Victory Column in October with a vicious KO of Anthony Dirrell. During this fight camp, he began working with trainer Stephen “Breadman” Edwards, who has mentored Julian Williams, Steven Upsher Chambers, and others. That changed his fighting style.
“Last camp we brought ‘Breadman’ and we had a lot of great chemistry with the whole team,” said Plant. “He’s easy to get along with and he just expects me to work hard. That’s exactly our thing and we like to do it. He brought some of the grit from Philly and helped repeat many things my father had said [co-trainer Richie Plant] had tried to infuse me.

“My strength has always been there, but I’ve returned to my roots. Breadman and my dad have a lot of similarities in how they want me to box and train. With some of this I’m going back to my old ways, but it’s combined with the new things that Breadman is bringing to the table and teaching me.”
Benavidez is a former WBC super middleweight champion. Impressing in his last fight against former title contender David Lemieux, he is now ready to show the world what he can do against a quality operator like Plant.
“This training camp is very special because our whole family was together,” Benavidez’s father said. “It is something very special and we are super motivated. It’s a great atmosphere here. We train hard not only to win the fight, but to look spectacular and achieve even bigger fights. I think David will stop Caleb Plant in the eighth or ninth lap.”
