The search for heavyweight gold begins in Brooklyn when Deontay Wilder and Robert Helenius go head-to-head at the Barclays Center.

The fight will take place on October 15th. This will be Wilder’s first fight in Brooklyn since 2019 when he knocked out Dominic Breazeale. For Helenius, he goes back into the building where he shocked boxing fans by TKOing Adam Kownacki. It was the last major fight before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Wilder won the 2015 WBC heavyweight title against Bermane Stiverne. He defended the title ten times, with a draw against Tyson Fury in the middle of that defence. “The Bronze Bomber” lost to Fury via TKO in a rematch in February 2020. In the trilogy fight, Fury knocked him out in the 11th round to retain the WBC title.

“This whole second phase of my career is all about having fun. I always tell people that I am happy and at peace in my life. Where I am the grass is green. I’m just looking forward to Saturday night,” Wilder said before the fight.
