Floyd Mayweather will once again team up with RIZIN when he faces Mikuru Asakura on September 24th. The fight takes place in Japan’s Saitama Super Arena.
Mayweather turned pro in 1996 and won titles in the super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight and light middleweight divisions. With a perfect 50-0, Mayweather initially retired in 2015 after beating Andre Berto. Mayweather returned in 2017, defeating MMA star Conor McGregor via TKO.
Since then he has participated in numerous exhibition fights. In 2018, he teamed with RIZIN for the first time, defeating young kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa via TKO. Mayweather has also fought Logan Paul and former training partner Don Moore in unrated bouts.
Asakura, 29, made his pro MMA debut in 2012. As the RINGS Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, Asakura fought primarily for RIZIN. He’s on a two-fight win streak with promotion and has amassed a 16-3 record with one no-contest.
