What Is Cloud Library and How to Use It

Do you like to read, but don’t have room for tons of paperbacks at home? Would you rather have free access to an amazing amount of eBooks and audiobooks?

If this is you, take a trip to your local library and get a library card. This card gives you access to amazing online resources like the Cloud Library.

What is a cloud library?

Cloud Library is an application that many public libraries use to give their members access to a large database of online content. This content includes eBooks and audiobooks.

Cloud Library is a simple and easy-to-use app that can be downloaded on these devices:

  • iOS devices including iPad, iPod Touch and iPhones.
  • All Android devices.
  • Kindle Fire, Fire HD and Fire HDX.
  • Web browsers, including Chrome, Edge and Firefox.
  • E-readers compatible with Adobe Digital Edition.

How to get access to the cloud library

Much like you can access free movies and music through your local library, your library membership gives you access to a variety of free eBooks and audiobooks.

You must purchase a library card to receive cloud library credentials. The membership number or barcode you receive from your library and the PIN you choose become your cloud library login.

To enjoy Cloud Library content, download the Cloud Library app to your favorite reading or hearing device. You can choose your language, state, and city. Then log in with your library barcode or membership number and the PIN associated with your library card.

What content does the cloud library offer?

Cloud Library houses a wealth of popular eBooks and audiobooks. This covers all genres including:

  • classic
  • children’s book
  • young adult novels
  • new adult
  • New Releases
  • fiction
  • nonfiction

If you’re looking for a specific title, Cloud Library has an advanced search feature that lets you search by author, narrator, publisher, or title. If you have the ISBN, publication date, general subject, or category, you can search that way as well.

If the book you are looking for is not available in your local library via Cloud Library, you can always check the many digital libraries where you can download books for free.

How to use the cloud library

To borrow and enjoy an eBook or audiobook in the cloud library, simply select the title. This will take you to a page where you can borrow or reserve the content if it is already being used by another library user.

You can also select the “Save for Later” button to add the title to your future reading list.

After you have rented the selected title, you can read the content on your device. You can read it through the app or download it with down arrow for offline reading.

When you’re done with the content, you can return it to the library by selecting the red back button. This will return the book to the cloud library’s virtual shelves and allow other library members to enjoy the title as well.

Your home library sets your borrowing limits. They usually range from three to five eBooks or audio books that are borrowed at the same time. Likewise, holds for future content are typically limited to five at a time, but your local library sets that number as well.

The loan period is usually twenty-one days, but depends on your library’s membership requirements. Renewals of titles you are reading are available through some libraries in Cloud Library.

Having fun isn’t hard when you have a library card

Libraries are excellent resources for hours of free entertainment. The cloud library provides one-button access to a variety of content. From the classics to the latest bestsellers, never miss an adventure with Cloud Library.
