When is FA Cup semi final draw? Date, time when 2023 fixtures will be set for Wembley

The 2022/23 FA Cup has the potential to unleash a few more upsets as the competition has already produced some sensational giant kills in the Premier League this season.

Aston Villa’s elimination in the third round – at the hands of Stevenage from EFL League Two – sparked a series of wild results as top sides Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Tottenham were all eliminated by lower-tier opponents.

The biggest shock of the round of 16 was fourth tier side Grimsby Town’s win over Southampton to secure a place in the quarters, while the other results guaranteed at least one second tier side to reach the semis. Meanwhile, both Manchester clubs are still in the mix.

With the quarterfinals next on the agenda, The Sporting News looks ahead to the semifinals draw with everything you need to know.

Will there be replays of the FA Cup quarter-finals?

The 2022/23 FA Cup quarter-finals will not feature replays. The previous round (round of 16) was the first phase of this year’s tournament that did not include replays for games that ended in a draw after 90 minutes.

Instead of a replay, teams drawn after 90 minutes will play 30 minutes of overtime, followed by a penalty shootout if necessary.

Replays were slowly being removed from the FA Cup. In 1998/99 the English FA waived replays in the final and a year later semi-final replays.

It took a few years for quarterfinal replays to be erased (2016–17) and the fifth round (round of 16) was the last round to be changed in 2018–19.
