Why is KSI fighting twice on August 27? YouTuber announces second opponent for 2022 boxing fight featuring Swarmz

On a night where YouTubers will take over the boxing world, KSI is ready to up the ante on August 27th at the O2 Arena in London.

KSI recently announced that he will be boxing twice on the MF & DAZN: X Series card. He was scheduled to fight Alex Wassabi before being eliminated due to concussion. KSI will now fight rapper Swarmz. After this fight, win or lose, KSI will face off against professional boxer Ivan Nikolov.

The MF & DAZN: X Series will feature the biggest global names in entertainment, sports and lifestyle in competition.

Why is KSI fighting twice on the MF & DAZN: X Series map?

On Twitter, KSI teased something that had never been done before. He described it as a “two for the price of one” PPV event. KSI announced the fight on his YouTube channel and explained why he chose to fight twice in one night. Only one name stood out that was available.

“That’s never been done in YouTube boxing,” KSI said via Mirror. “In fact, I don’t think it’s ever been done in regular boxing with a pay-per-view. We asked Bryce Hall, we asked Dax, we asked Vinnie Hacker, we asked Taylor Holder, and they either couldn’t do it or said no.

“So I decided to fight someone who would beat all the people I mentioned before. I fight a professional boxer. For my second fight, same night. I fight Swarmz and a Bulgarian boxer in the same night.

“Am I crazy? Probably? Am I crazy? Probably? Is that ridiculous? Probably.”

KSI predicts the second fight will bring in more viewers. He continued to brag about his level of opponents, saying that there are better fights than all of Jake Paul’s. KSI and Paul have been teasing each other in the ring for years.

One caveat regarding the second fight: Doctors have stated that KSI will not fight Nikolov if he is cut or too injured to compete.

Who is Ivan Nikolov?

Nikolov, 43, made his pro debut in 2017. The Bulgarian has a record of 3-16-2. His last win was in 2019 and he is 0-10-1 in his last 11 fights. Nikolov last fought in July on an eight-bout losing streak, losing by KO to Petar Dragonov.

Nine of his 16 losses came by knockout.

“He’s going to be the most persistent fighter I’ve ever met, he loves to f—— swing. He has decent head movement, he can take punches,” KSI said of his opponent. “He’s a pro boxer and he knows how to stay safe. What the hell am I doing? I know you’re wondering what his boxing record is like; he is 3-16-2. That’s three wins and 16 losses, but that’s more wins than all of Jake Paul’s opponents combined.”

The boxing history of KSI

KSI began his boxing career with a TKO win over Joe Weller in an amateur bout in February 2018. He then went on to fight Logan Paul in Manchester in August of the same year. The fight ended in a majority decision tie.

Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing liked what they saw and gave KSI and Paul a chance. In a legitimate bout at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in 2019, KSI beat Paul by split decision. KSI and Alex Wassabi wanted to fight before Wassabi retired.
