Will Levis on planned NFL Combine workout: ‘I’ve got a cannon, I’m going to show it off’

Will Levis has divided expert opinions when it comes to his potential as an NFL quarterback. But one thing that cannot be questioned is his confidence.

A day before he is scheduled to take to the field for shooting practice, he spoke to reporters at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. When asked about his decision to throw in front of the scouts in attendance, the Kentucky gunslinger gave a very confident response.

“I think I have one of the stronger arms to come out of any draft class in a while,” he said. “I’ve got a gun. I’ll show it off.”

Levis is predicted by many to be the top 10 pick in April’s NFL draft. His best attributes are considered to be his arm strength, physicality, and mobility, but some have also criticized his accuracy and decision-making. However, there is no doubt that he has extremely high potential as he tries to take the step to the next level.

Quarterbacks can choose whether or not to perform throwing practice at the combine. Levis chose to participate alongside fellow elite QB prospects Ohio State’s CJ Stroud and Florida’s Anthony Richardson, while Alabama’s Bryce Young chose not to compete this weekend.

Levis had an impressive 2021 season for the Wildcats after transferring from Penn State and scoring 24 touchdowns as the team went 10-3. However, 2022 was a little more difficult, partly due to injuries and several key offensive departures.

But that hasn’t shaken his belief in his abilities.

“My goal is to win more than everyone else,” Levis said on Friday. “I want to be the greatest of all time. You’re crazy if you don’t think like that.”

Levis says he believes he can help bring a Super Bowl title to any team that calls him up in April.

“I can bring them a championship team, that’s the confidence I have,” he said. “I think I’m very, very adaptable – better than anyone … just because of my experience and because of my physical tools. I think I’ll be able to get plugged into any offense and I’m learning it well and becoming a leader on any team I play for very quickly.”

Whichever franchise takes a chance on Levis, you can bet he’ll be fired up for them this fall.

In his latest mock draft, The Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer predicts Levis will go 7th in the Raiders. You can check out his full two-round mock here.
