The United States has a chance to defend its gold medal at World Juniors 2022, with the tournament starting on August 9th.
After the original tournament was canceled mid-competition in December, the IIHF decided to resume it in the summer months.
The United States enter as the defending champions, after beating Canada in the gold medal match of the 2021 tournament, the USA were crowned junior world champions for only the fifth time in history.

The team will be led this summer by Maple Leafs prospect Matt Knies, Wild prospect Brock Faber and Devils first round pick Luke Hughes.

The format for the 2022 World Junior Championships consists of two groups of five teams playing a preliminary round-robin to determine the seeding, followed by a single-elimination tournament.
As champions, the United States moved into Group A as the top team, where they will face Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

2022 World Juniors Odds
According to Sports Interaction, the 2022 tournament will be a four-horse race.
Canada, Finland, the United States and Sweden are the clear frontrunners when it comes to winning this year’s tournament, with the Canadians holding the best odds at +116. All four countries are +400 or higher, while the other six teams are +1386 or lower.
