Deepak Chahar’s decision not to appeal after clinching victory during Monday’s third ODI against opener Zimbabwe opener Innocent Kaia won the hearts of fans on social media and drew some hilarious reactions as well.

After winning the pitch and opting to bat, India made 289 runs for the loss of eight wickets on the back of Shubman Gill’s first ODI hundred. Gill hit 130 runs in 97 balls and his innings consisted of 15 boundaries and a six.

The 22-year-old also had support from Kishan, who scored a well-done half-century before being eliminated. Shikhar Dhawan was the second-highest scorer with 40 runs.

With 290 runs on target, the Zimbabwean innings began with an interesting incident. As Chahar was about to finish his run-up, he saw that Kaia was out of his crease and proceeded to rip off the stirrups on the non-forward’s end. However, the Indian pacesetter decided not to appeal the decision and the Zimbabwe opener was taken off the hook with a caution.

Chahar would ultimately have his man over the next as he imprisoned Kaia right in front of the stumps. Initially, the decision was not in favor of the Indian pacer, but skipper KL Rahul opted for the review.

It showed all three were red and the ball hit the pad first to give India their first breakthrough.

The famous incident between Ravichandran Ashwin and Jos Buttler during an IPL game in 2019 caused divided opinion among fans, but that wasn’t the case on Monday.

The 30-year-old has won the hearts of fans with his decision not to appeal after flogging the bails with Kaia just before his crease. Some of them were also able to see the funny side of things as the game progressed.
