West Ham sign German defender Kehrer from PSG – Sporting Life

West Ham United have signed defender Thilo Kehrer from Paris St Germain, with the Germany international on a four-year contract, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday.

Financial details were not disclosed but British media reported West Ham paid an initial fee of around Β£10million ($12.07million) for the 25-year-old, who played 34 games for PSG in all competitions last season denied.

Kehrer can play both as a central defender and as a full-back, while he has also been deployed as a defensive midfielder.

“He is a talented player who can play in a range of defensive positions and brings strength and depth to our current options,” West Ham boss David Moyes said in a statement.

Kehrer has also been a regular player for Germany since Hansi Flick took over the national team last year.

“It’s the best league in the world and I’m looking forward to playing in the Premier League,” said Kehrer.

“I spoke to the manager and he told me how he sees me fitting into the club. My biggest goal now is to get into the team, integrate into the group and have fun playing for West Ham.”

Kehrer is West Ham’s sixth signing since last season, joining defender Nayef Aguerd, goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, centre-forward Gianluca Scamacca, winger Maxwel Cornet and midfielder Flynn Downes.

Aguero, who joined the club in a Β£30m deal, has had to undergo ankle surgery after suffering an injury in last month’s friendly against Rangers.

West Ham sit 19th in the Premier League table after losing their first two games of the season. They next meet Danish club Viborg in the first leg of the Europa Conference League play-offs on Thursday.
