On Monday, August 29, 2022, the eyes of the tennis The world will turn to Flushing Meadows for the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open.

For two weeks, players will compete on the hard courts of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for a chance to be immortalized in tennis history. Qualifying for the tournament will take place before the Main Event: from Tuesday 23rd August to Friday 26th August. The draw for the tournament is expected to take place on Thursday 25th August.

The wildcards were announced on August 17 and include the four-time Olympic gold medalist venus williams, fellow american Sofia Kenin and champions 2020 Dominik Thiem.

The headline of the event is the news that this Grand Slam will likely be the last 23-time major winner in a competitive tennis tournament Serena Williams will ever play.

Earlier this month, the 41-year-old announced her intention to retire in an article in Vogue magazine. Williams said she is moving away from the sport to expand her family.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist, considered by many to be the greatest ever to compete in the sport, will enjoy her swan song in front of her home crowd, where she is a six-time winner.

Champion 2021 Daniel Medvedev will face a host of challengers, led by this year’s Australian and French Open winners Rafael Nadal.

The games will take place from August 29th to September 11th, with the singles final taking place on the second weekend.
