This is funny (and embarrassing). Those who watched the UFC 279 live stream online were expecting a main event that saw Nate Diaz take on Khamzat Chimaev in a welterweight brawl. Now there is a new game.

Then at the weigh-in we saw Khamzat Chimaev miss the weight. Notably, while Diaz hit the 171-pound welterweight limit for non-title fights, Chimaev hit 178.5 pounds, down from 7.5 pounds. This throws the match – Diaz’s finale to his UFC contract – into chaos.
MMA writer Cole Shelton (opens in new tab) tweeted that someone in Diaz’s camp said “Khamzat fight will not happen.” Diaz’s crew believe Chimaev didn’t even try to gain weight and instead cheated. Shelton noted that the belief is that Diaz will fight Tony Ferguson or he will leave.
Shelton’s sources were right and Diaz will now fight Ferguson. Chimaev fights Kevin Holland, who… well, let’s rewind a bit. He got into a verbal argument with middleweight Paulo Costa on Wednesday, and on Thursday he got into a scuffle with … Kevin Holland.
If Ferguson (-125, stake $125 to win $100) is a much less favorite over Diaz than Chimaev (-950) was. These odds are via DraftKings (opens in new tab)which Diaz has at +105 (bet $100 to win $105).
