How to download and play Wii/GameCube games on Android using the Dolphin Emulator
Whether you took it out during a get-together with family and friends or loaded it up yourself, the Wii and the game dice created special memories in many of our childhoods. Wii Sports, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros – these are just a few games that have been fun for hours. Luckily, it’s now possible to relive those games. All you need is an Android smartphone and some time to set it up. In this article, we cover absolutely everything you need to do in detail to play Wii/GameCube games on Android smartphone for free.
How to Play Free Wii/GameCube Games on Android
An emulator is simply a piece of software that allows one device to behave like another. In this context, we are looking for an app for Android that can simulate this Wii and the game dice. It should not affect the device in any way as it is like any other mobile app. Luckily, there is already one that can emulate both consoles and is trustworthy.
Step 1: Download the Dolphin emulator
Go to the Google Play Store and search for Dolphin Emulator. The requirements to download the emulator can be a bit higher as these are fairly new consoles. Visit this website here to check.
Step 2 Download some Wii/GameCube games
The Dolphin emulator does not come with preinstalled games. Games must be downloaded separately from the Internet. As there are a ton of different websites to download games for emulators, there is a chance that some are not safe, so proceed with caution. Once you’ve found the game you want, follow the prompts to download it to your device. There may be some slightly new terminology on the site. A ROM is a name commonly used when referring to games that run on emulators. Literally, ROM stands for read-only memoryand in this context, a ROM is a copy of a game’s read-only memory.
Simply put, a Emulator ROM is just a digital version of a game cartridge. Game files for Wii and GameCube can vary in size, although Wii games can be particularly large. Step 3: Extract and organize the game files

After that the game should appear in the emulator, just click on the cover image and it should load! The selected folder will also be used for future games, so a folder dedicated only to Wii/GameCube games is very useful. Later, when you download new games, just add the files to this folder and they should automatically appear in the emulator. Step 5: Familiarize yourself with the controls and settings
The Wii games in particular are quite resource intensive, so it might be a good idea to tone down a few settings here and there. Press the back button on your device or use the gestures you would normally use to go back a page and this will open the emulator menu. There’s a variety of things to do here, including taking screenshots, tweaking settings, and redesigning the overlay controls.
It is also possible to connect a controller to the emulator. Make sure it’s connected to your device, then on the Dolphin emulator home page, click the cog at the top to open the settings menu. Navigate to GameCube input or the Wii input panels, then bind the buttons on the controller to the appropriate inputs.
