San Francisco 49ers at the Carolina Panthers

Time: Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET (CBS), stream on Paramount+ (click here)
Open: 49ers -3.5

Featured Game | Carolina Panthers vs. San Francisco 49ers

“The Carolina Panthers are the least watchable team in the NFL. If watchability rankings don’t matter yet, they should, and the Panthers would be at No. 32 for four weeks. The 49ers should beat Carolina — the only concern is how San Francisco’s offensive line will handle a good Panthers pass rush. Can Jimmy Garoppolo score 21 points? I say yes, which means the Niners will win this one and probably cover with the way the defense is playing right now.

Philadelphia Eagles at Arizona Cardinals

Time: Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET (Fox), Stream on fuboTV (Free Trial)
Open: Cardinals -3

Featured Game | Arizona Cardinals vs Philadelphia Eagles

“The Eagles are one of the top teams in the NFL this season, and they’ve covered in each of their last three games after failing to do so in the season opener against the Detroit Lions. I’ve made them the best bet to cover each of the last two weeks, so why stop now? The Eagles look like a complete team to me. Jalen Hurts and offense made the headlines — and I can see why. The Eagles lead the NFL in “big plays” this season with 36. If you’re wondering, “big plays” are rushes of at least 10 yards and passes of at least 20 yards.

The Eagles have led 184 offensive games this season, the most in the NFL, while the Cardinals have led 13 offensive games this season, the worst in the NFL. It was interesting to watch the Cardinals’ defense as they blitz at the highest rate in the NFL (41%) but allow for a 125.8 passer rating with blitz, which ranks 29th in the NFL. hmm

Arizona doesn’t really have home field advantage, as the Cardinals have lost seven straight home games — which is the longest streak of its kind in the NFL. But here’s the most important stat: The cards didn’t cover in all seven of those home games either.”

Dallas Cowboys at the Los Angeles Rams

Time: Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET (Fox), Stream on fuboTV (Free Trial)
Open: Aries -5.5

Featured Game | Los Angeles Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys

“As much as I want to ramble on here about the Cowboys being good because of Cooper Rush, I’m not going to because it’s not entirely true. The Cowboys are 3-1 straight because their defense is all smashing: They can stop the run, they can stop the pass, and they’re exceptionally good at embarrassing opposing quarterbacks.

The Cowboys have totaled 15 sacks this season, which is the second-highest total in the NFL. On the other hand, the Rams’ offensive line has suffered throughout the year, making the first four weeks of the season a nightmare for Matthew Stafford.

If you saw what happened to Stafford in Week 1 – he was sacked seven times against the Bills – then you got a taste of what could happen to him this week. If you saw what happened to Matthew Stafford on Monday night – he was sacked seven times against the 49ers – then you got a taste of what could happen to him this week. Stafford has been sacked 16 times this season, which is the second most in the NFL, and based on what I’ve seen of the Cowboys defense, they could double that total.

The problem for the Rams is that they almost never win, win. Stafford is sacked two or more times in a game. In Stafford’s 22 regular-season games with the team, the Rams are 11-1 if he’s sacked once or less, but only 3-6 if he’s sacked multiple times. Basically, the Rams have a hard time winning when Stafford is thrashed.

The other thing about the Cowboys’ defense is that nobody can score against them. The Cowboys haven’t dropped 20 points in any game this year, which is impressive considering they’ve faced quarterbacks like Joe Burrow and Tom Brady before.

Ever since Dak Prescott went down, the Cowboys’ formula for winning games has been pretty simple: Play great defense and pray Cooper Rush doesn’t make mistakes on offense. Well, the prayers clearly worked because Rush had no breaks for four weeks. I have no idea if the Cowboys will stay with Rush for another week or hand offense to Dak Prescott, but I don’t care, I’ll take them no matter what.”
